Graduated from the First Medical Faculty of the Medical Academy in Warsaw (today's Warsaw Medical University, WUM). Since then, he has been associated with this university and its Psychiatric Clinic. In 1987, he received his first degree of specialisation in psychiatry there, and in 1991 doctorate and, at the same time, second degree of specialisation, also in psychiatry. His doctoral thesis was on sleep disorders in alcohol-dependent patients. He held various positions at the Clinic - assistant, assistant professor, senior lecturer. He was Head of the Psychiatric Clinical Ward and Head of the EEG and Sleep Research Laboratory there. On his initiative, since 1998, the first outpatient clinic for sleep disorders in Poland has been operating at Nowowiejski Hospital in Warsaw, where he still consults.
Author of over 100 publications and numerous scientific presentations in the field of sleep medicine, psychiatry and neurophysiology. Member of many associations, including the Polish Sleep Research Society (board member), the European Sleep Research Society, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the Polish Society of Clinical Neurophysiology, the Association of Patients with Narcolepsy (founder) and the Association Actively Against Depression.
