What are the indications for a genetic visit?
Make an appointment with a clinical geneticist if:
- Your family has diseases with established or presumed genetic causes,
- You are planning a pregnancy, and you have a genetic disease,
- You have epilepsy and want to diagnose its cause,
- You observe delays in your child’s psychomotor or speech development.
How to prepare for the visit?
- Be prepared to talk about diseases occurring in the family – gather information in advance about family members – both living and deceased,
- Find out – if possible – if there is a family history of birth defects, disabilities, difficulties in getting pregnant and maintaining a pregnancy, or stillbirths,
- Bring your medical records for your condition.
