We guarantee fast appointments, care of high-quality technicians and any form of examination: awake, asleep or asleep - both in our Center and at the patient's home.

Make an appointment for an EEG and VEEG test at the Neurology, Epilepsy Center and Neurosphera Psychiatry.

What are EEG and VEEG tests and what are they used for?

EEG (electroencephalography) and VEEG (electroencephalography with video recording) are the most important tests that help diagnose diseases of the nervous system. During the test, the bioelectrical activity of the brain is evaluated.

They are carried out by a specialized technician on the order of a Neurosphera doctor: an epileptologist, neurologist or psychiatrist. The doctor then prepares a detailed description of the test. Evaluation of the results is the task of the neurologist. It is he who decides the next steps – further diagnosis or treatment of the patient.

Types of EEG tests

At Neurosphera, we perform vigilance testing in children and adults of all ages!

Type of testFor whomWhereDuration
In the vigilAdults and childrenIn the doctor’s office30 min
In falling asleepAdults and childrenIn the doctor’s office60 min to 6 hours

What are the indications for an EEG or VEEG test?

Sign up for an EEG or VEEG if you or your child is affected:

  • suspected epilepsy,
  • sleep disorders,
  • head injuries,
  • eye disorders,
  • stuttering,
  • recurrent headaches,
  • fainting,
  • unconsciousness.

Periodic EEG examinations are also recommended for people who participate in contact sports (e.g., boxing, combat sports, soccer), during which microdamage to the brain can occur, as well as those who are exposed to high stress and high responsibility on a daily basis.

What should you keep in mind before the test?

At Neurosphera, we conduct examinations in a modern, comfortable and unencumbered way for our patients. What should you remember before the examination?

Wash your scalp.
Eat a lightly digested meal – never come in fasting!
Ensure that there is no hairspray or other preparations on the hair.
48 h before the test, avoid, if possible, psychoactive drugs and liquids, such as strong medications, alcohol, caffeine, drugs.
Do away with makeup or use a light version of it
Take medications as you always have, unless your doctor recommends otherwise
On the day before and on the day of the test itself, follow your daily routine as usual.

Stress-free EEG testing in children

We perform the EEG examination on patients of all ages, including children and infants. We realize that in the youngest patients the examination can cause some stress and anxiety, so we make sure that it takes place in the most comfortable conditions for young patients:

  • During the examination in the office, the child may be accompanied by a parent who will cuddle the child if necessary, thus providing a sense of comfort and security.
  • Newborns and infants can be fed right after the electrodes are placed – so they will fall asleep much faster.
  • Our offices contain and welcome mascots and other toys – this keeps little patients calm and their attention is diverted from the examination being performed.

How does the EEG and VEEG test proceed?

Remember – sleep disorders are dangerous and detrimental to the functioning of the brain, especially in young patients, so at Neurosphera we perform the test in children according to their natural diurnal rhythm.

Important! If you know that your child will not be able to stand still in one position, report this to our staff at the time of enrollment for the examination. Such information will allow us to plan its individual course.

The technician, depending on the chosen technique, applies a specialized gel to the scalp, which transmits a signal to the electrodes..

Then electrodes or a special electrode clip will be applied to the head. .

In certain cases, hyperventilation, photostimulation or eye opening and closing tests are additionally performed during the examination. This allows to obtain additional information and deepen information about the patient's condition. None of the above is inconvenient, nor does it require special preparations..
