Ictal robot and Neuroterminal system showered with awards at IWIS International Warsaw Invention Exhibition

The system based on advanced cybernetic algorithms, which is used daily in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy at our center, won as many as three awards. According to the decision of the international jury, Neuroterminal triumphed in the computer science and electronics category, and Ictal® beat the competition in the medicine and biotechnology category. The Ictal robot additionally won the Grand Prix of the exhibition.

The 16th edition of the IWIS exhibition was held under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Science. Inventions created by a group of Polish scientists working under the leadership of Dr. Piotr Zwolinski – Medical Partner of Neurosphera – competed with nearly 400 innovations from 21 countries around the world. The appreciation of this globally unique system for diagnosing epilepsy is a triumph for Polish science and the entire Neurosphera medical staff.

– All jury members were unanimous that the solution presented by the Polish team was the best this year. Neuroterminal and Ictal find practical applications. They support the medical decision while helping patients by significantly speeding up diagnosis. This is crucial in many cases because the patient – especially in the case of an epileptic seizure – cannot wait for a long time for help. And, although the other innovations presented at the exhibition also found implementations, none of them were as complementary as the one presented by the winning team,” says SGSP Prof. Michal Szota, Ph.D., a member of the jury.

The award received shows how important the system being developed at Neurosphera is for Polish science. Ictal and Neuroterminal are two powerful tools that have not only already helped thousands of our patients, but significantly improved the work of the entire center.

Currently, the team developing these devices is working to make them even more beneficial to the patients who use the clinic’s services. One of the next development goals is to build a cybernetic genetic ontology, thanks to which the system will equip the doctor with the ability to infer on the most up-to-date knowledge of genetic developments. This will translate into even more accurate diagnoses.
